• CONVECTIVE MAGNETOHYDRODYNAMIC FLOW AND HEAT TRANSFER IN A VERTICAL CHANNEL

Abstract

The study of mixed convection in a vertical channel with symmetric and asymmetric wall heating conditions including viscous dissipation in the presence of magnetic field is analyzed. The two boundaries are considered as isothermal-isothermal, isoflux-isothermal and isothermal-isoflux for the left and right walls of the channel and kept either at equal or at different temperature. The equation of conservation of mass, momentum, and energy which govern the flow and heat transfer, are solved analytically by using perturbation method. The velocity and temperature fields are obtained for various parameters such as product of mixed convection parameter and Brinkman number and magnetic field for equal and different wall temperatures. The viscous dissipation enhances the flow reversal in the case of downward flow while it counters the flow in the case of upward flow.
