• THE INFLUENCE OF CHEMICAL REACTION ON VISCO-ELASTIC RADIATIVE MHD FREE CONVECTION FLUID FLOW PAST A VERTICAL CONE EMBEDDED IN A POROUS MEDIUM

Abstract


The influence of chemical reaction, thermal radiation and viscous dissipation on unsteady, laminar, free convective heat and mass transfer in a viscoelastico fluid past a vertical cone embedded in a porous medium with surface temperature  varying as power function of distance from the apex of the cone (x = 0) in the presence of a transverse magnetic field applied normal to the surface is presented here. The dimension-less governing equations of the flow that are unsteady, coupled and non-linear partial differential (boundary layer) equations are formulated and solved numerically using an efficient, accurate and unconditionally stable finite-difference scheme of the Crank – Nicolson type. The velocity and temperature fields have been studied for various combinations of physical parameters (Radiation – conduction parameter F, Prandtl number Pr, Viscoelastic parameter , Schmidt number Sc, buoyancy ratio parameter N, Semi vertical cone apex angle , exponent m, Eckert number Ec, permeability of porous medium K, chemical reaction parameter K1 and magnetic parameter M). Additionally the local skin – friction, nusselt number and sherwood number are also presented and analyzed graphically.
