• VISCOELASTIC POTENTIAL FLOW ANALYSIS OF KELVIN-HELMHOLTZ INSTABILITY IN PRESENCE OF TANGENTIAL MAGNETIC FIELD

Abstract


The Linear analyses of Kelvin-Helmholtz instability of the plane interface separated by viscoelastic and viscous fluid has been investigated, in the presence of tangential magnetic field using potential flow theory. The normal mode technique has been used to solve the governing equations and dispersion relation that occurred in the growth of disturbance rate is drawn solving the effect of various physical parameters such as retardation time, viscosity on the stability of the system, for the different values of magnetic field and magnetic Permeability for both fluids. It has been found that the elasticity of the fluid enhances the growth of disturbance wave and we observed that at low viscosity fluid is more unstable as compared to high viscosity and inclusion of irrotational shear stresses have stabilizing eect on the stability of the system.
