• RESPONSE OF A POROELASTIC HALF SPACE DUE TO INCLINED LINE LOAD

Abstract


The Biot linearized theory for fluid saturated porous materials is used to study the deformation of an isotropic, homogeneous, poroelastic half-space caused by inclined line-load acting at the free surface of the medium. The displacements and stresses in the medium are obtained by using the appropriate conditions at the boundaries. The results are obtained analytically for the limiting cases (i) undrained conditions in high frequency limit (ii) steady state drained conditions as the frequency approaches zero. The displacements, stresses and pore pressure for both the situations are obtained for a particular model to discuss the results graphically.
