Abstract

The onset of double diffusive convection in a viscoelastic fluid saturated anisotropic sparsely packed porous layer is studied using linear stability analyses. The modified Darcy law for viscoelastic fluid of the Oldroyd type model is employed for the momentum equation. The onset criterion for stationary and oscillatory convection is derived analytically. The effects of anisotropy parameters, Darcy-Prandlt number, and relaxation and retardation parameters on the stability of the system is investigated.

Keywords
