• DEFORMATION IN A FLUID SATURATED POROUS MEDIUM DUE TO RING AND DISC LOADS

Abstract


The present investigation is concerned with axi-symmetric deformation in fluid saturated incompressible porous medium whose surface suddenly emanates from a point on the surface and expands radially at constant rate due to time harmonic ring and disc loads. The cases of loads shaped like a ring and disc are considered in details. These loads are chosen so that they exert a constant force on the surface as they expand. Hankel transform technique is used to solve the problem. The integral transform has been inverted by using a numerical inversion technique to obtain the components of stresses and pore pressure in physical domain. The trends of variations of these quantities for both types of loads are depicted graphically.
