• SIMILARITY MEASURE OF FUZZY SETS BASED ON SET THEORETIC APPROACH
Abstract
Fuzzy similarity measure is a significant concept in fuzzy set theory. Fuzzy similarity measure describes the similarity between two fuzzy subsets. In many contexts, similarity measures are used as a mathematical tool for expressing quantitatively to what extent two objects, or more formally, two instances of a given mathematical structure (set, vector, matrix, tree, etc.), resemble each other. The fuzzy similarity measures introduce the notion of approximate equality (or similarity) between fuzzy sets. The similarity of fuzzy sets may vary from 0 which means completely distinct to 1 which means fuzzy sets are similar. In the literature, a lot of measures are proposed to measure the similarity or equality of two fuzzy sets. There is no unique definition.
